Artists, craftsmen, re-constructers of traditional houses, farmers, forest workers, and fishermen in Takashima City in Shiga Prefecture will open their homes and studios to the visitors. This may give the sense of living in the area and energize the community through communications.

Art of Wind and Soil Project Team

Profile

Takashima City in Shiga Prefecture is a beautiful area of nature and farming. It also has a good transportation connection to Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe. Many artists moved in this area. Recently, however, there are less and less young people in the community. There are many deserted houses in the area. Art of Wind and Soil project began in 2011, opening homes and studios of artists, craftsmen, re-constructers of traditional houses, famers, forest workers, and fishermen to the visitors. The movement grew and we had the forth event in winter of 2013. Staff, visitors, and artists and people from this area communicate regarding the future of the community. The Project Team of Art of Wind and Soil is an organization to carry out of the event. It consists of artists, support staff and volunteers. The committee receives the support groups to plan and carry out the events. The team regularly meets to communicate and prepare for the events.
