Grand Opening Forum for ASAHI ART FESTIVAL 2014

Grand Opening Forum for ASAHI ART FESTIVAL 2014

“Why do we launch art projects and try to keep them going on?”

ASAHI ART FESTIVAL (AAF) consists of small organizations which make an approach through art in order to change the society into an easy place to live, with citizens who take actions voluntarily.
Looking back 13 years of AAF which has undergone various changes, it abound with episodes such as “you found yourself deeply involved in an art project as a member before you know” and “you found delight in expressing yourself with bright smiles.”
A society cannot change immediately.
However, by keeping an art project going on, it is changing little by little.
At this forum, we are going to talk over potentials of art projects as “soft power to change local communities” as well as the future cultivated by a network, inviting a guest from Malaysia.

AAF Declaration of Support

"In support of our friends united with art"

We sincerely express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the people affected by and suffering from the Great East Japan Earthquake.

The Asahi Art Festival (AAF) believes in the importance of continuing its activities to support the hearts and minds of one other, especially in this time of crisis. We hope that many of you will join us and support our activities.

AAF is a network of projects led by citizens that endeavor to open up the future of their local cities using the power of art.

Many individuals who have participated in the AAF are facing difficulties at this very moment - particularly those from Aomori, Hachinohe, Minami Sanriku, Higashi Naruko, Sendai, Sennan, Minami Soma, Onahama, Iwaki, among other cities.
These people are our very friends who have believed in the future of their cities, carrying out art-related projects in order to thrive in their communities.
These people have strengthened ties with each other using the power of art.

It is for this reason that we will continue to join hands, combine our wisdom and pursue ways in which we can use art to resolve issues in the society at large.

Art can pick up the pieces of broken hearts.
We believe that we can overcome this hardship by supporting the hearts and minds of many individuals as possible.

AAF has strong faith in the power of art. Our activities will continue to tackle issues in local communities through activities that are centered around the arts.
